Kindle Unlimited: 600,000 book titles for $10/month. New subscription service from Amazon
Remember a while back when I introduced Oyster to you? The New York startup has now expanded to Android, Nook, and Kindle, and their library has expanded to over 500,000 books.
But the big fish incumbent in the book industry, Amazon, has responded with their own ebook and audiobook subscription service in Kindle Unlimited. Like Oyster, Kindle Unlimited offers a large library, all up for grabs for $9.99 a month, with the first month for free.
This means Oyster, and its other competitor, Scribd, which offers a very similar service as well, has their work cut out for them. No doubt Kindle Unlimited, coupled with Amazon’s already large and established customer following, poses a huge threat.
Good news for book lovers though! More choices for a book subscription service means more choices for books, means more enjoyable reading experiences!
